What Lessons Did You Learn in 2011?

December 26, 2011 Blog, Self-Improvement 1

I would be interested to hear what lessons you all learnt from 2011. 2011, for me, wasn’t too eventful. I had been travelling Asia the first half of the year so I have only been doing Internet Marketing for the last half of the year. I knew what I had to do and it was just a case of getting a job to fund the link building and content creation of my websites. My revenue has steadily inclined up to $900 last month.

I had a bad experience last month that cost me approximately $100 in revenue losses. I moved to a bigger server and have a few of my sites hosted on this server. The server management company (webbycart) screwed up the process and it resulted in my sites being down for over 1 week. My lesson learnt is to never use these guys again and maybe think about moving all my sites to hosting companies.

2012 is going to be a busy year for me, I plan to set up more sites (have a read of my 2012 goals here) and try to review as many link building services as possible.  Hopefully I will learn some more lessons in 2012.

There was a very good thread started on Warrior Forum where people posted their most valuable lesson learned in 2011.  Here is a list of a pick of what I think are some of the best lessons people have learned in 2011, hopefully it will give you some guidance for 2012.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]The money is in the list.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]You can’t base your potential earnings on what other people have or haven’t made. The only way to see how it will work out for you is to put it out there, try your best, learn from your mistakes, and do it better next time.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]Don’t get caught up in information overload. Choose a program and stick to it. Put in the time and effort, and then worry about reaping the benefits. Most people think *money* money* and forget that this is a business and you have to start small and develop.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]It’s dumb to focus your social marketing efforts on just Facebook and Twitter, when there are hundreds of other social sites where people (prospects) gather.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]The only way to really know is to dive in and do it and see what happens. Stop thinking about it and do it.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]Never depend only on SEO traffic. Google can be very unpredictable.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]Don’t focus all of your effort on one type of SEO. Diversify your linking strategies and don’t count on one source of income either.

[icon style=”star” ]  [/icon]To take action, massive action. It’s not enough to learn from eBooks, video courses etc. You have to go out and execute.

Please share the most valuable lessons you have learned in 2011 in the comments below.  I’ll add what I think are the best to the list above.

Wow this is a great post. Luck enough I found it.
I guess I have been putting too much of my efforts on many things. I am very ambitious and want to make money as fast as possible. The first lesson is that I have to narrow down and lay my focus on one thing.
The other thing is that internet marketing is as good as that dentist course you would take. Why then should I not take it more seriously in 2012????

By the way you have a great blog I love it........Keep up with the good work paul :)
