A 3 Day Review Of TwitterBacklinks.com

A 3 Day Review Of TwitterBacklinks.com

April 10, 2012 Reviews 0

Twitterbacklinks.com are giving away a 3 day free trial of their Social Media SEO service which uses twitter to boost your social media presence and hopefully your SERPs too.

Here are a few words from the thread the offer was posted on:

TwitterBacklinks is a service that generates a huge buzz and social following for your Twitter Status Update. Our Massive network has thousands and thousands of unique users all standing by ready to spread the word about your message/site. Some of these user accounts have been established for years so they come with a ton of authority and power.

Is this safe?

Absolutely! The process consists of thousands of unique Twitter users all Retweeting your Message/URL which Google Loves to See!

Does Google even care about Twitter? Will this increase my search rank?

100% Yes! Even Matt Cutts has said, “Yes I can confirm we do use Twitter and Facebook Links in Rankings…We ARE using this as a Signal…”

Well certainly sold me, I always pay special attention to anything Matt Cutts says, and it makes sense Google now use social media as a factor for a web page popularity and SERP positioning.  Social Media, to me, is probably the biggest determining factor to whether a real user find something on the net useful.  Most people have a facebook and/or a twitter account and if a user shares a page with their friend on one of these sites its clearly a sign this page is of some quality and relevance to that user.  But unfortunately social media is easy to cheat, because of this perhaps Google does not place it as an important factor when determining a page SERP.

Well anyway, regardless of what I think, there’s no reason not to try this service out, it’s free after all.  You need to supply your paypal address and will only be charged after the 3 day trial is up, so if you dont want to carry on using the service be sure to cancel you subscription at the end of the 3 days.

Dashboard

After you sign up you will receive an email with your login details and then you can access your dashboard.  You have a number of options on this page, they are:

Submit Tweet/Retweet

Here you have 2 options, either paste in the actual Twitter Status Update message url you want to be retweeted or enter the Tweet Status Update message you want and TwitterBacklinks will take care of the rest.

Retweet Monitoring

Bit disappointing on this feature, basically there is no such monitoring to be done from the dashboard,  you simply get told to enter a special url that will show the amount of retweets via twitter (http://urls.api.twitter.com/1/urls/count.json?url=http://YourURLhere.com).  I havent been able to figure out how to use this and a Google Analytics timeline or something for monitoring would be much better.  The way I monitor the message is to just visit the twitter status update message url every day and it shows me how many retweets I have received so its not too much of a problem.  But obviously if I had multiple messages I wanted to track this could become annoying.

Billing

Option to cancel you subscription, it’s nice that they made it clear for users to find and use.  Some services I have used in the past hide it away and you end up having to send emails to get your subscription cancelled.

Upgrade/Downgrade Plan

Self explanatory.

What I Don’t Like About TwitterBacklinks

  • Interface is a bit clunky, small things such as being redirected back to the homepage once you have submitted your retweet.
  • No inbuilt stats or tracking of your messages.
  • No way to see how many times your message has been retweeted in your dashboard.
  • No archive or option to view your previous messages that you submitted for retweeting

Does It Work?

Honestly I can’t say that I saw any improvement in traffic or ranking after the 3 days.  I probably wouldn’t spend money on a service like this simply because it’s too easy to create a bot network of twitter accounts and abuse the system.  I’m not saying that twitterbacklinks are doing such a thing, it’s just my observation from other twitter followers, facebook fan, Google +1 suppliers lurking around the forum offering these shady services.  I’ve tried out every type of supplier and every time is what obvious that the accounts where not real accounts used by real people.

I can confirm that my message was retweeted, unfortunately there is no way of accessing my link within the dashboard, nor is there a way to see how many retweets I received.  I contacted support twice and had no reply.  So I gave up with this.  Best spend my time and money on better link building services.
