Thrive Leads Review: The Ultimate Listing Building Plugin
The money is in the list, ye, ye, ye you’ve heard it a million times. I promise that’s the last time I’m going to say it in this thrive leads review. I’m almost sick of saying to so many clients.
Yet so many marketers fail to implement list building into their blogging arsenal and are missing out on a crucial traffic source.
Thrive Leads is a wordpress plugin that allows you to grow your list through various opt in forms such as ribbon, pop up, slide in, in content and more. Not only that but it allows you to completely customize these elements to ensure your form looks professional and eye-catching. In this Thrive Leads review we’ll go over all the features of this plugin and give you my own opinion on this tool.
Thrive leads is built by the same team who developed the very popular Hybrid Connect plugin. Shane Melaugh is the man in charge and you may know him through his blog IMImpact. If you haven’t visited his site before head over there after reading this review as it’s got a lot of great posts.
Let’s jump in and have a brief overview of the features. If you want to watch a video overview, Shane has create a 12 minute introduction video below.
How Thrive Leads Works: Lead Groups
Lead groups are a collection (or group) of opt in forms. You can create multiple groups and within them you create different opt in forms for different areas in your website.
The groups should be seen as different incentives that you are running on your website. For instance you might call one Lead Group “Weight Loss Pills Review” and on pages related to this you give away your eBook containing the 10 best weight loss pills. Another group, “Weight Loss Diet Plan” would only be shown on pages related to dieting and it could be something like a cookbook download. Each lead group is centred on providing content upgrades or offers around a specific topic. You can of course choose to have just one offer running across your entire site.
Why Is This Good?
Well it means you can create an unlimited amount of targeted campaigns for all of the content on your site. More targeted content and incentives = higher opt in rates.
Within the lead groups you can create different forms for different locations on your website, they are the following:
Ribbon
I’m sure you have seen Hellobar used on many websites, well now you can use your own without having to show someone else’s branding on it. This floats at the top of the page at all times and can be easily closed by the user by clicking on the ‘x’.
Lightbox
This lightbox overlays your content and can be closed easily.
Widget
You can see this in action in the sidebar of this blog. This is your traditional email signup that usually is found in the sidebar of most blogs.
Post Footer
Seen at the bottom of posts, this is a great way to offer content upgrades to your visitors.
Slide In
SumoMe use these and they are a nice way of capturing the visitors’ attention without being too obtrusive. Like SumoMe you can set this form to slide in after the user scrolls down a percentage of the page.
In Content
Pretty self-explanatory, this form is placed in your article and you can set it to automatically be placed after x number of paragraphs of your post. This is also a nice way of offering content upgrades for visitors.
Screen Filler Lightbox
This is a lightbox that fills the whole page. It’s very intrusive hence why the default display frequency for this is 7 days.
Place Forms Anywhere On Your Site With Shortcodes
Using shortcodes you can create individual opt in forms that you can place anywhere on your site. You can use the content builder to edit these forms which means you can create very unique designs. The editor in this plugin is very powerful and intuitive to use and you can see from the introduction video at the top of the post.
The Editor aka Thrive Content Builder
This is what I love about Thrive Leads, you can quickly and easily build your own forms without the need to worry about any code. In the past you would hire a developer on a freelance website such as Freelancer and pay them to do this for you.
Now you can customise form easily in Thrive Leads visual composer. Everything is editable.
Unlimited Customisation
The level of customisation in Thrive Leads is insane, everything can be tweaked! Bundled with the plugin comes a wealth of pre-built elements that will allow you to build any type form you need. Aside from this Thrive Leads also comes with loads of template to get you started. Take a look at the screenshot below for just one example of template sets.
Split Testing For Maximum Conversion Ratio
Another great feature of Thrive Leads is the split testing feature. Before we go anywhere else, if you are using an opt in form that you are not split testing then you are wasting all your hard earned traffic and potential higher conversion rates.
Split testing is a very powerful and effective way to boost your conversions, it takes very little time on your part to setup and once you have created your ad variations, Thrive Leads will take care of distributing your traffic evenly between each variation.
Creating variations of the forms is very easy, all you need to do is click on the clone button and a new variation will be added, click on the edit button for your new variation and change the form however you wish. It’s really easy to create variations for testing with Thrive Leads.
The only annoying thing about the split testing feature is that once it’s set you can’t go in and edit the ads, you have to mark the test as complete which automatically places all variations in the archive. You then have to move all the variations out of the archived section back into the test.
There is no limit to how many forms you can split test so tweak and change until your heart’s content.
Automatic Winner From Your Split Tests
Along with being able to create unlimited tests within Thrive Leads you can also set it to pick an automatic winner. You have the following options which allow you to ensure your test is not ended prematurely:
- Minimum conversions
- Minimum duration
- Chance to beat original
Reporting
On the reporting side of things Thrive leads handles things very effectively. You get a breakdown of your conversions from your tests as well as where about your conversions are coming from. Thrive Leads does this by showing a pie chart breaking down the different optin forms.
It allows you to quickly see which parts of you site are performing well what parts might need tweaking.
Conclusion
I can’t really fault this plugin. It’s quick, easy to use and packed full of features. No plugin comes close to its features at this price point. I should also mention that support for this plugin is very good with problems and bug fixes being released very quickly.
That my thrive lead review done! If you are looking to start building an email list (you need to be) then Thrive Leads is all you need. I highly recommend it.
