27 Tips To Skyrocket Your Fiverr Performance
When you go to Fiverr, you see thousands upon thousands of gigs being sold by nearly as many different sellers. Some are top rated, some are level 1 or level 2, and some aren’t getting any sales. But why do some people become level 2 sellers, or better yet top rated sellers, or even better yet a Super Seller like me, when so many others can barely sell one gig a week?
In this guide I attempt to shed light on how you can make a hefty profit by selling your services on Fiverr. I’ve already written about the different types of services you can start selling easily, and that do not require too much time on your behalf.

Tip #1 Play it nice
When you are not the sole seller of something the customer wants, they won’t look at you twice if you don’t act nice and be friendly. Don’t try to kiss their behinds too much though, because some people hate that even more than having the seller being rude or blunt.
Just be polite and answer their questions as well as possible.
Tip #2 Play it cool
I’ve had a plethora of annoying people buy my service from me, and whilst it was funny in the beginning and I had no problem explaining things for the third time, it got real annoying, real fast. But you must remember to keep your cool in a situation where the buyer keeps asking some simple things from you over and over again, because they can’t understand it. If you’re not good at staying cool, then try and not reply immediately with all the rage you got from reading the question, but leave it for a little bit later and think a good and polite answer that you can give to your customer.
Tip #3 Get good reviews, leave good reviews
When I look at a gig, and see the seller has responded to a praising comment with the same “Great buyer, thanks” for over ten times, I start feeling annoyed. It looks like the seller doesn’t give a damn about the reviews from the customers, and that is not something you want your potential customers thinking. By leaving an enthusiastic and tailored reply to all positive comments, you can make the buyers feel just as special as you told them to be!
Tip #4 Deliver early
What’s better than getting an on-time delivery for something that you ordered? That’s right, getting an early delivery for something you ordered. Make sure you still have enough time to complete the order, so that you won’t deliver late, because that is the worst possible thing you could do.
Tip # 5 Keywords
Keywords work on Fiverr just as well as they do everywhere else on the internet. By having the service you provide mentioned with its main keyword both in the title and in the description itself will make it more visible on Fiverr, and that’s what you want, isn’t it?
Tip# 6 Catchy headline
Don’t just throw the first thing that comes to your mind into your gig’s headline, make it unique. Every one is saying that they “will design a logo”, so make it “I will design an outstanding signature logo for you”. Now it sounds more intriguing, it speaks directly to the potential customer, and it even diversifies your offerings. Now what do I mean by “diversifies”? Check out the next tip!
Tip #7 Diversify
Don’t just have one gig where you design a logo, have multiple gigs for different types of logos! A gig for a mascot logo, a gig for a signature logo, one for a classy logo, one for a vector logo and so on. Only the sky is the limit, and the only thing you need to do now is to cross-promote your gigs.
Tip #8 Cross-promote
Cross-promotion is a highly effective way to get more eyes on your gigs, and when it comes to Fiverr and diversifying your offerings, cross-promotion couldn’t be easier. In one of your gigs you can mention another gig, and also sell your other gigs as gig extras in the other gig. Let’s take graphic design as an example, because this is the most common type of gig I see getting some good cross-promotion action going. One of your gigs sells logo design, the other social media cover art, so why not put social media cover designs as a gig extra in the logo design gig?
Tip # 9 Bullet points
There is no easier and more effective way to structuring your gig than bullet points. They offer a simple and efficient way of listing your skills, services and whatever else you might think is worth listing. And the best thing? Everybody likes to read bullet points.
Tip #10 Be honest
There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to order a logo from a seller on Fiverr, and then later on find out about the true nature of his gig, for example a logo designer asking for more money due to the logo being “too complex”, or “difficult to make”. Don’t try to pull one off on your customer, but be honest about what is included in the $5 and what has to be ordered as a gig extra.
Tip #11 Graphics
Fiverr allows you to showcase your previous work, so do it! Don’t waste that perfect opportunity to make the client desire your skills to be part of their next project. That’s what makes you money, and leaves a customer happy, and that usually means they will be back for some more of your work.
Tip #12 Build a following
Like I mentioned in the last tip, happy customers are bound to come back and even recommend your service to others that they know. By building a strong following of customers will lead you on your road to success much faster than having to promote everything yourself. Selling to an existing customer is always easier than trying to convince a new customer.
Tip #13 No freebies
There are many people going around asking for free samples of your work to “test it out for a larger project”. Don’t. Most of these people have absolutely no intention of ordering from you, they just go around to many enough Fiverr sellers and they get their project done with freebies. Don’t be one of those sellers.
Tip #14 Don’t expect too much
Fiverr never promised to make you rich, so don’t dream about making millions on Fiverr, or even making a living with just Fiverr. The intention is to make an easy extra few hundred bucks per month, and if you happen to be able to turn your gigs into something much larger and find your way to riches with just Fiverr, then good for you! But 99.9% of the Fiverr sellers won’t, so there’s no point in dreaming about riches just because you have a good gig on Fiverr. Be realistic with your expectations.
Tip #15 Ctrl + C is a bad idea
Just as Google detects duplicate content, Fiverr’s search rankings do too, so whatever you do, don’t copy someone else’s gig description. Always a bad idea, and shows an extreme lack of effort to your potential buyers who notice what you’ve done.
Tip #16 Change things around a little bit
If you seem to be stuck without sales, or feel that the potential of your gig is way higher than the amount of sales you’re getting, there might be something wrong with your gig description, profile or any of the other factors mentioned in this blog post. Change things up a little and see what the effect is.
Tip #17 Optimize your profile
Optimizing your profile is key, because your potential clients will look at your profile before ordering from you, even if it’s only the small box next to your gig description. But who else looks at your profile? Fiverr’s search engine system, that’s who. Optimize your profile to include some of the keywords in your many gigs, and the search rankings of those gigs should see a nice rise.
Tip #18 Requests from buyers
Now this depends a little on the type of gigs you sell, because if you are a graphics designer you will most likely receive custom requests all the time (if you are not, do update your profile to mention that your potential clients can always make these types of requests), but on the other hand, a person selling eBooks will most likely get zero requests, and that’s perfectly normal. Remember to check if you have requests that have been made by potential clients, and respond to them timely.
Tip #19 Thick skin
In the end, Fiverr is just another corner of the internet, which means there are all kinds of tough guys and loud mouths who will bad mouth and insult you. In real life, they’d probably just suck it up and go cry in their rooms, but they seem to gain superhuman strength and courage whenever they are safe behind their keyboards. So whatever you do, remember that somethings will always end in insults or your feelings getting hurt. That’s when you need to suck it up and develop a thick skin to be able to keep selling just like it never happened.
Tip #20 Interact with the community
There’s a forum for Fiverr users, so go show your face out there, take part in the conversation going on around there. Personally, I don’t do this too much, but then again, I’ve built my online presence elsewhere. This is as good a place to build one as the next.
Tip #21 Promotion, promotion, promotion
Promote your Fiverr gigs on your social media profiles, blogs and everything in between. The word of mouth is going to help you gain some clients who will then go to their friends and recommend your services and so on. The more you promote your services, the more you will sell. It’s simple maths.
Tip #22 Don’t beg
Never beg for positive comments, but instead act polite and ask if the customer had a good experience, and if so, then would they be willing to write a nice review. Written reviews always work best with places like Fiverr, because at least I want to know how other people felt about you before I hand over my money.
Tip #23 Ask for details
Don’t just wing it when it comes to your clients’ orders. If you are not sure what they are exactly looking for, ask them. It’s always better to get it right from the start, instead of redoing the same order over and over again, until you get tired and the buyer will bad mouth you.
Tip #24 Shooting yourself in the leg
It’s a bad idea, whether it’s a figure of speech or the actual act of taking a gun and pulling the trigger while aiming at your own leg. But how could you shoot yourself in the leg on Fiverr? Well, for one, you could sell everything you do cheaper than others. Sure, that will probably get you started well, but then when you increase your pricing, there won’t be so many buyers around. Why is that? Because you sold your services too cheap to begin with, and got the clients used to that level of pricing.
Tip #25 Advertising
You could try your success with advertising programs like AdWords and Facebook ads to promote your services, or better yet, build your authority. Promote your blog, website and social media profiles, which all in turn link to your Fiverr services. Keep the customer in places that remind them of you for long enough, and they’ll remember you for far longer than you will ever remember them.
Tip #26 Never spam
Everybody hates spam. Simple as that.
Tip #27 Show your authority
Tell people why you are the professional you claim to be. Now, of course you can’t shouldn’t start scanning your college diplomas and whatnot and uploading them to your Fiverr profile. Instead, build a brand out of yourself. If you’re a bit lost about building brands and authority.
BONUS TIP!
Expand that authority of yours. Like I said, you won’t make millions with Fiverr, but nothing’s stopping you from expanding that, even if small, success you have on Fiverr to other places. I’m writing this in the blog aren’t I?
So now that you know how to boost those sales on your Fiverr gigs, there’s only one step to take: Action!
