Homepage Backlinks From HighPRSociety.com – How Good Are They? – Part 4 & 5

January 31, 2012 Case Study 4

This post includes week 3 & 4 rankings.  Unfortunately my rankings have dropped out of the top 10 (by a huge amount).  Check out the breakdowns below to see how week’s 3 & 4 panned out for me.

Week 3 & 4

Please see the original post which provides details about each site I am using in this case study.

As you can see, my keyword was stable at position 5 for most of week 3, then at the start of week 4 we rapidly rose to 154.  Since the beginning of last week my ranking has just been hovering around 140-150.  This could just be a Google dance or maybe I have been penalized for something.  My page survived all of the ongoing panda updates last year and the latest page layout algorithm update does not apply to me as I do not have any ads on this amazon review page.  I’m really confused as to why my rankings have dropped so badly.  I have decided to carry on the case study for 1 more month as I believe my rankings will soon bounce back.  I’m just going to keep these homepage backlinks live and hope the link juice flowing from these links put me back up into the top 10.

Week 3 & 4

Please see the original post which provides details about each site I am using in this case study.

[image width=”600″ height=”” link=”https://outsprung.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/keyword-2-stats.png” lightbox=”true” title=””]https://outsprung.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/keyword-2-stats.png[/image]

Please note – The ranking chart above shows my keyword dropping to position 0.  This means the keyword was not found in the top 1000 for that day.  It might look like I’m bouncing to position 1 but this is not the case.  The rankings for week 3 & 4 have not been very impressive for website 2 either.  Dropping out of the top 10 and falling in and out of the top 1000 over the last few days.  Again probably a bit of Google dance taking place.  My traffic is a lot better however, maybe I’m ranking for some other keywords too.  As I am going to be running website 1 for 1 more month I may as well keep the links live for website 2 and see what changes happen.

Let’s hope next week things start to pick up.

    Hey Paul,

Not so great then so far? Has there been any pick up? I too have 2 sites (less then two months old) that I was very lightly peppering with build my rank and Social ADR, to see Google to bat them out beyond 1000.

I am now considering just buying and registering 6 months in advance, put up a basic page and then come back later when all the new phase has passed, as its hard to know if what your doing is a help or a hindrance. I suppose one good thing is it can make you focus on other means of traffic generation outside of big G.

next update will be tomorrow, not looking too good at the moment haha.

I have had the same thoughts on creating sites and just leaving them for a while. But really its not too hard not to get hit by the sandboxed when creating a new site, just take things slowly and im sure doing backlinking for 6 months slowly as compared to doing nothing for 6 months then starting fresh will be much better.

traffic generation outside of google is definitely something i need to start looking into, but i havent got a clue where to start.

Very interesting series, Paul. I was hoping to see that you had made the top 3 this week. My guess is it's just the Google dance. Looking forward to finding out, though. Good luck.
